Bethel Theological Seminary : 2001 Seminar

Newsbrief

Executive Vice President and Provost Leland Eliason writes, “The grant given by The Lexington Seminar enabled us to bring together all faculty and several support staff from San Diego and the Northeast at our St. Paul campus for a Friday through Sunday noon workshop. The theme was, ‘Faculty as Team in Regard to Encouraging Student Formation.’ A lively discussion began at a macro level with a review of two books: Exclusion and Embrace, by Miroslav Volf and The Way of the Heart, by Henri Nouwen. A series of focused interactions narrowed the topics to a micro level ending with some planning for next steps. At an open sharing time Sunday morning, several faculty reflected upon significant experiences in their own formation and development. Meaningful worship and a communion service concluded our time. The weekend moved our discussion to a deeper level, raised our consciousness, facilitated intentional planning, enriched our sense of community and, because of all these dimensions, contributed to the continued formation of all who attended. Many commented that it may have been our best faculty time ever.”
