Description
MTSO’s issue is “exploring the implications of our institutional identity in our teaching and learning.” In particular, the faculty is concerned about engaging in the conversation about how the institution’s ethos affects how students are assessed and how the faculty works together. The faculty will develop a survey for students, staff, and faculty in order to understand the current culture of the school and then build on these findings in a faculty retreat. Then the faculty will ask a few colleagues to write papers on issues identified in the retreat, and these papers will be the focus of a second retreat. Following this event, the faculty will look at questions of student assessment in light of the previous conversations. Finally, the faculty will share this “developing understanding of identity and assessment” with administration and the Board of Trustees.
